Women Politicians Across the County Say They’ve Faced Harassment, Threats

Important article from the Voice of San Diego. This really needs a very deep conversation – Women Politicians Across the County Say They’ve Faced Harassment, Threats – by Kayla Jimenez.

Several of the women in this article are Democratic Woman’s Club of San Diego County (DWC) members. DWC helped assist the Voice of San Diego journalist, Kayla Jimenez, with her research for this article.

San Diego County Democratic Party Chair, Will Rodriguez Kennedy has expressed a commitment to convene a forum around this issue in the new year as part of the party’s Community Voices program.

“[Democratic Party leadership training for women (sic)] didn’t prepare us for this bullshit. Even with in-depth training, it knocks you off your feet.” – Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson, a North County water board candidate who reported harassment from an opponent (whom she beat like a drum)

This will be a virtual briefing and discussion describing how the November 2020 election will be conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic.  As the pandemic has disrupted many aspects of our daily life, so too it has disrupted how the presidential general election will be conducted and how voters will be able to cast their ballot.

He is responsible for election administration of one of the largest election jurisdictions in the country with a registered voter population of nearly 1.8 million. Mr. Vu oversees all primary, general, special, and district elections for the County as well as elections for the surrounding municipalities.

Before his appointment in San Diego County, Mr. Vu worked for three and a half years for the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, Ohio, as Director. Prior to relocating to Ohio, he spent seven years working for the Salt Lake County Elections Division under the direction of the Salt Lake County Clerk.
