May 15 – Healthcare for All with Ava Torre-Bueno & Candidate Mike Levin

The topic of our monthly meeting is a thorough discussion of SB 562, the Atkins/Lara bill – Healthcare for All.

Standing Up for Women has arranged for Ava Torre-Bueno, LCSW, a social worker and psychotherapist in private practice, and deeply involved with (a statewide, grassroots group working exclusively on universal healthcare for all Californians), to be our main speaker.

SB 562, the Healthy California Act, is moving quickly through the State Legislature. Learn what this can mean for all Californians and how you can advocate for this bill. This club has been considering endorsement of this bill, so it is important to understand it.

Democrat Mike Levin will also be a featured speaker at this meeting. Earlier this year, Colonel Doug Applegate spoke to our group about his candidacy to unseat Rep. Darrell Issa in the 49th Congressional District. Environment attorney Levin is also challenging Darrell Issa. Our goal as a club is to make sure that you, as a member of a countywide club, have multiple opportunities to get to know all candidates and speak to them directly.

Come join us and add your energy, passion and ideas to the group!
