Apr 20 – Women Totally Get It

Our guest speaker this month is Anne Hoiberg, Board President of the Women’s Museum of California.

Anne’s presentation highlights legislation created by women since 1848. Issues of the suffragists, other than the right to vote, are showcased, but the main focus is on the efforts of elected and appointed women within Congress and the Federal Government. Find out how important Martha Griffiths and Patsy Mink were in promoting women’s rights, and admire the tenacity of Congresswoman Edith Green – it took eight years to have her important legislation (Equal Pay Act of 1963) signed into law by JFK.

We just need more women who will run for office and continue this important work. Equal pay, anyone? Everyone is invited! Free to attend!

The presentation is at our new permanent venue for our monthly club meetings:

Women’s Museum of California
2730 Historic Decatur Road, Suite 103 (map)
San Diego, CA 92106
